New Amazon Widget

Amazon has just released their “Page Recommender Widget” which will display links to other pages on your website and also link to Amazon products.
If you’re currently signed up as an Amazon Associate/Affiliate, you can simply plug this widget into your page and be off and running.
Here’s an example of what the widget looks like:
Since it’s new, I’m giving it a test run here on the blog but will then add it to SlingBrain.com to see how it pans out there as well.
To use this widget on your pages, you first have to be an associate/affiliate of Amazon. You can sign up here: http://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/join
Once you’re signed in, click on the “Build Links/Widgets” within the left hand navigation menu. Then look for “The Page Recommender Widget”.
Click “Add to Your Web Page”, choose the size you want to display, click the “Add to my web page” button below the widget, copy the code and then paste it on your web page or blog.

Protect Your Affiliate Links
I’ve just created a *very* quick video on how to protect your affiliate links using PHP.
I created this video because I was pitched a product today that was selling a program that automatically does this for you – for $19.99 or $19.97 … can’t remember really but, it was near $20.
It is so easy to do this yourself that I created a video for you showing you how. I was appalled actually that someone was trying to *sell* you this information.
So here’s how to protect your affiliate commissions from being stolen the *right* way.
P.S. If you can’t quite see the code that is shown in the video, I’ve placed it below for you.
1. Create a web page on your LINUX server that has a .php extension. Doesn’t matter what you name the page, just so long as you can identify it.
2. Within this new page, strip out all excessive code, the html, the body, etc. You don’t need this extra “stuff” in there for what we’re doing.
3. Put the following code on your web page AS IS with the exception of where it says “your affiliate link here”.

4. Be sure you place the ENTIRE URL including the http:// portion of your affiliate link here.
5. Save the file.
6. Point people to this page when recommending your affiliate products.
Build a Great Website Fast & Free!
There’s a new product available now for folks who want to build a website but don’t understand all of the HTML, PHP or ASP code. It’s called Blinkweb and it’s completely free…sort of…
Blinkweb is from Matt Callen, the creator of HyperVRE and brother of Brad Callen the creator of such products like SEO Elite and Affiliate Elite.
It’s really a great idea for newbies who don’t understand how to design a website or have the cash at hand to hire someone.
As with all products there’s an up side and a down side…
The Up Side
- You can sign up for free;
- You can create a website for free;
- It’s a click-and-drag interface so it’s easy as pie to use;
- You can plug in web forms, design headers, add testimonial boxes, add buy buttons, and even choose one of their templates so you don’t have to worry about designing your own site or hiring your own graphics designer;
- It works with all kinds of payment processors;
- It really is incredibly easy to use.
The Down Side
- To get your site absolutely free, you need to use a blinkweb subdomain so your site will look like yoursite.blinkweb.com;
- You can register your own domain name with Blinkweb, but if you register your domain through them, you’ll need to purchase hosting which is currently $1 for the first month, $14.95/month thereafter.
- You CAN transfer a domain you already own to Blinkweb for $14.95 and then the typical $14.95 / month thereafter to remain hosted with Blinkweb
- Additionally, if you create a site and want to download it, you can also do this as well. This can be a dream come true for a code-challenged person. There are fees associated with this service but when you compare it to the ease of creating your site, a paltry $9.99 is chump change. They also allow you to sign up for a lifetime version as well so you can build and download as many sites as you wish.
All in all, if you’re tired of trying to figure out how to design your site and just want something really simple to help you, Blinkweb could be the next best thing next to sliced bread for you.
